Founded by Sparrow Clark in 1950 Clark Motors has a rich history spanning 67 years, four locations, and three generations. While Sparrow frequented in both the automotive and aviation circles, when son in law Ernie took over in 1984 he kept his feet firmly on the ground, continuing to build a strong reputation for good service, and reliable good value. When Jan and Ernie welcomed their third child into the family just over a year later, they bestowed him with a name inspired by racing legend Peter Brock, and a fascination with finding out how things work. Brock was often seen a Clark Motors of an afternoon, either helping his Dad, or tinkering on mud racers, bush bashers or motorbikes leaving no surprise at his chosen career path.
Brock chose to start his career with City Motors in 2003, to satisfy his curiosity with the latest technology, while still helping out with Clark Motors after hours. Over the next 10 years Brock completed not one, but two trades, light vehicle mechanical and automotive electrical, saw City Motors merge into International Motors, and become Autocorner at the Nebo road site, became a certified Toyota Diagnostic Technician and eventually one of only a handful of fully certified Toyota Master Technicians in the country. Also while working with Autocorner Brock met his future wife Adele, a fellow duel trade automotive electrician/light vehicle technician, and the first female on the workshop floor at Autocorner, specialising in diagnostics, and later shifting gears to help train the company's apprentices.
Fast forward 10 years and Brock and Adele have both joined the Clark Motors family, allowing Ernie to retire and hit the road. Brock and Adele are excited to be taking a respected local business with a strong reputation and great customer base into the future. “We have fantastic clients” says Brock, “many of our clients are second or third generations themselves, and they value knowing their mechanic, and receiving personal service for a fair price. We hope to only continue to grow to be able to do more for our clients, we can now carry out all general repairs, diagnostic, electrical repairs, and servicing including brake machining, but we also plan to utilise our skills and include air conditioning and more in the future”.
We have a proud history of excellent work and customer service. We have remained loyal in serving our community and in return have been recognized through the years by our township and state, and from local business organizations. Through our success, we have also been able to give back to our community through donating to many local charities.
